Institute of Ancient Music

It offers advanced courses in Renaissance, baroque and classical instruments with world-renowned teachers.
The Institute of Ancient Music, amongst other activities, offers to the students the possibility to perform together with selected, experienced international professionals in prestigious places in Milan.

Moreover, students will be given the possibility to perform alongside people from around 20 countries ensemble and orchestra music in seminars and concerts of the Baroque Orchestra of the School.

Main subjects: Renaissance and Baroque Harp; Baroque singing; Harpsichord; Ancient double bass; Bassoon; Recorder ; Traversiere; Forte-piano; Lute; Medieval music; Organ; Renaissance polyphony; Violin; Viola; Viol; Baroque cello; Violone.

Elective subjects: Theory and Practice of the Medieval repertoire; Figured Bass; Renaissance Vocal Counterpoint; Choral practice on original sources; Ornamentation; Medieval lute; Ensemble music; Notation; Orchestra; Theory of Renaissance Music.

Duration: compulsory attendance according to calendars in use. Admission requisites: high school diploma, proper instrument level

THE PROGRAMME PROVIDES YOU WITH A STRONG FOUNDATION IN THE THEORETICAL AND PRACTICE OF RENAISSANCE, BAROQUE AND CLASSICAL MUSIC, SKILLS IN ENSEMBLE AND ORCHESTRA MUSIC AND PERSPECTIVES.
